From
Mandranova, situated in that part of Sicily where the film "Il Gattopardo"
with Burt Lancaster, was set, it is easy to visit the Southern coast of Sicily.
In the West the Valley of Temples on the outskirts of Agrigento and the archaeological
sites of Seliunte are matched only by the brilliant white beaches of Scale Dei
Turchi and Eraclea Minoa. On the Eastern side of the island, Modica and Ragusa
stand out with their beautiful Baroque churches and palaces. In the North,
there is unmissable Piazza Armerina with the wonderful mosaiques at Villa del
Casale and Caltagirone, a town famous for its pottery. More unconventional itineraries
will take you to places such as Palma di Montechiaro, Naro, Caltabellotta and
Aragona.
